Providing highquality products that are healthy and nutritious is part of Nestle’s ambition to educate and betterthe lives of over 50 million children. Through their Knowledge Sharing Program (KNHK), andNestle Healthy Kids (NHK) program, Nestle educates children in rural areas to build a healthierlifestyle. Next, Hershey’s corporation, in its commitment to water, has set up purified watertanks, and sanitation facilities for young girls to support children. Lastly, Nestle is committedto rural development through multiple programs that allow farmers, street vendors, and womento receive benefits and compensation to increase the quality of their livelihood.Hershey’s Corporate Social Responsibility has four pillars— shared future, sharedplanet, shared business, shared communities (“CSR-Report 2017”). Firstly, Hershey’s hasmultiple partnerships with different organizations. These partnerships are a way for Hershey’scommitment to enriching the lives of children and families. In 2018, Hershey company donatedapproximately $5 million in organizations and charities through their community givingprogram. Moreover, the company continues to support education and community development.They have also shown support to the community through disaster relief. Next, the companyshows its commitment to the planet by continually developing strategies and policies onreducing, reusing, and recycling products. In 2017, the company successfully reduced itsgreenhouse gas emissions by 2.7%, and they have also minimized its packaging waste by over19 million lbs. Lastly, they planted 133,333 trees. Third, the Hershey company has successfullyplaced SmartLabels on all of their products. These SmartLabels are made to make it easier forconsumers to know nutritional facts about their food. Hershey has stayed true to its third pillar,shared business, by supporting 54,000 farmers, and ensuring that their ingredients are sourcedresponsibly. The last pillar, shared future, focuses on the company’s desire to secure the futureof children in rural areas.
