A labor union or trade union is an organized group of workers who unite to make decisions about conditions affecting their work. Labor unions strive to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to our nation. Unions work like a democracy. They hold elections for officers who make decisions on behalf of members, giving workers more power on the job. The main reasons to join a union are higher pay, better benefits and a voice on the job. As a union member, you have a collective voice regarding things such as pay and wages; work hours, benefits such as retirement plans, health insurance, vacation and sick leave, and tuition reimbursement; workplace health and safety, and ways to balance work and family.A union that is still in place today is the National Nurses United (NNU). The NNU is the largest union and professional association of registered nurses in U.S. history with over 170,000 members nation wide. At its founding convention in December, 2009, NNU adopted a call for action premised on the principles intended to counter the national assault by the healthcare industry on patient care conditions and standards for nurses, and to promote a unified vision of collective action for nurses with campaigns to win “healthcare justice, accessible, quality healthcare for all, as a human right.” operation making Deborah response with 100 words The Delphi technique is a qualitative approach used by decision-makers in business to assist them in making predictions about future events.Interestingly, its name is derived from the ancient Greek priestess the Oracle at Delphi, who was famous for her prophecies (Twin, 2020). The technique is a highly subjective approach because it relies heavily on people’s thoughts, emotions, and experiences, rather than specific quantifiable metrics to forecast the company’s future performance (Heizer, et al., 2016). Nevertheless, their opinions are highly valued because they are experts in their fields. The group is comprised of key decision-makers, staff personnel, and respondents (Heiszer et al., 2016). Staff administers “several rounds of questionaries”, to which the experts respond, share, and “adjust their responses” until they arrive at a group consensus (Twin, 2020). It is a very effective technique because responses are anonymous since it is done remotely (Twin, 2020). The technique could be used at a former employer of mine, Proquest, to forecast demand for certain educational databases. Many of you will recognize the name from the PBSC Library. The company aggregates databases for libraries and educational institutions. I was an account executive in the K-12 division several years ago and I had to do my own sales forecasts using Salesforce. However, key decision-makers at the company likely sought input from respondents such as curriculum directors, and faculty using this technique to get their input because they have the expertise in curriculum requirements and experience using the databases. This would have helped Proquest make better long term strategic decisions about developing and promoting new collections based on the opinions of these experts and end-users.Nicole respond with 100 words The Delphi method is a useful qualitative research method that is designed to forecast solutions to problems where data is missing or incomplete (Davidson, 2020). This method involves three types of participants. Involved are te decision makers, staff personnel, and respondents (Heizer et al., 2020). The decision maker particianants are made up of usually 5 to 10 experts, and these experts are responsible for the forecasting. Respondents are the ones who’s judgement are valuable, and they assist and provide insight to the decision makers prior to the forecast being made. One characteristic of the Delphi technique is that participants in the study are experts in their field (Davidson, 2020). Another characteristic is that participants work anonymously and do no know who other participants are. Additionally, the Delphi technique is a consensus research method, therefore the goal is to approach a decisison among the expert panel for the best soultions (Davidson, 2020). Personally, I do not believe I have worked for an employer that uses this technique. This technique can be used in a variety of different fields, though. For example, the Delphi technique can be used to forecast trends in different areas such as technology within schools, aerospace, and automation (2020).
